Red Mountain Ski Hill

Red Mountain Ski Hill is located in the West Kootenay's in beautiful Rossland BC. It encompasses 3,850 acres of skiing terrain. Red Mountain has an rich union history. It was in 1980 that the Red Mountain Employees Association was formed to bargain with the Red Mountain Ski Club, in 1980 there were only 50 to 70 employees at the ski hill. After seeing the Kimberley Alpine had joined the United Steelworkers, Red Mountain bargaining unit employees joined with Local 9174 in 1992. Local 9174 merged with Local 9705 in the mid 90's. Red remained with 9705 until the Local merged with Local 1-405 in 2022. Now Red Mountain Ski Resort employs over 250 people peak season, and has begun building their off season business with a bike park that employs more people year round.
